It was a really exciting day as we welcomed our new Reception Robins as part of our transition to St Aldhelm’s. The weather was glorious and we enjoyed lots of play in the sunshine as well as creative fun inside. Parents and Carers were able to meet and chat too. Some children didn’t want to go home but are really looking forward to coming back to play next week! #learningtogether

This week in worship, we have been exploring the Christian Value, perseverance. We have looked at inspiring people including Rob Burrow, Emma Raducanu and Max Woosey and considered how we can be changemakers like them. Falcons have been researching, designing and creating masks inspired by those from Maya culture. They applied their knowledge of the Maya and other civilisations to design either death, celebration or warrior masks to wear into battle. They had a range of materials to select from and are using these to build up the layers. We can't wait to see the final masks.
Robins have been learning all about Africa and created some fantastic writing to apply their phonics skills. 🐘🦒✏️🤩
This week Owls have been learning about pollination in science with some amazing hands on learning to help the learning to stick! They made bees and used their knowledge to show the process using these and “pollen” (cheese powder). The children then drew the process into their own comic strip. Well done Owls 🐝

Robins and Nightingales visited Longleat as part of their animals and minibeast learning. They enjoyed workshops tailored to their current topics and were so brave with the animal handling.
We started our new term exploring the Jigsaw PSHE focus ‘Changing Me’ looking ahead to the new experiences of Term 6 and what we need to grow, change and flourish. There were some fantastic reflections from the children including how tests can be exciting and why they are good for us as a chance to show all that we have learned and how we have grown. Mrs Phillips shared her new hobby and the mixed feelings that come with new experiences but how we can embrace these new opportunities to enable us to be the best that we can be.
