We have long wanted to take the children up to Beacon Hill Wood, an area rich in flora, fauna and local history.

Several years ago, we received a bequest from the late Dennis Hill, a villager and member of the Beacon Hill Society, who wanted our children to be able to enjoy learning about this fantastic natural resource. As a result of the money he left us, we were able to pay for coach transport and to hire toilet facilities for the day. We had a brilliant time, learning about the wildlife and fungi, as well as den building.  Our children wrote to Mr Hill's family to show how much they had appreciated and benefitted from the day spent in the wood, learning from the expert members of the Beacon Hill Woodland Society who spent the day with us.

Following on from this first visit to Beacon Hill Wood, and recognising how much the children had got out of the experience, the nephews of Mr Hill have kindy arranged to fund twice yearly trips for all our junior children to Beacon Hill, for the next five years. We are hugely grateful for their support, and for that of the members of the Beacon Hill Society.
